On May 20, residents of the Carle Place School District voted 552 to 314 in favor of the $42,832,135 spending plan for 2008-2009. Listed on the ballot as Proposition #1, the approved budget is a 4.97 percent or $2,083,145 increase over the current year's budget of $40,803,990.

Earlier this month, the Westbury High School Varsity Baseball Team completed a three-game sweep over Roosevelt. The sweep was the team's first in many years and the games were won by a score of 17-7, 13-5 and 16-10.

Carle Place Senior Noelle Martello Sets New School, Career Record
On May 7, Carle Place High School senior Noelle Martello set a new school record and personal career high of 1,000 saves. Martello has been a member of the Carle Place Varsity Lacrosse Team for the past four years, three of which she has served as starting goalkeeper, averaging about 250 saves a season.
