A storyteller, poet and actress, Trix Bruce will present an "Improv Comedy" show from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. This year's festival, Oct. 11 and 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., features apples, handmade country crafts, seasonable produce, grilled bratwurst, children's activities and more. Visitors will have an opportunity to learn about the deaf, the Mill Neck Family of Organizations and its services. There will be a Cheese House, baked goods, jellies, fudge and strudels. The Country Store features a full-line of Karl Ehmer wurst and bacon products. The "Gourmet Shop" offers fine snacks and sparkling apple cider. In the children's activities area, Gooseberry Grove will have a fantastic array of games, including an inflatable slide. Musicians Michele Purcell and Barbara Fine Buxbaum will perform. Facepainting by Agostino Arts on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. The festival also showcases the latest in deaf technology, sign language novelty items and books, a hearing van featuring free hearing screenings from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days and a 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $10 each and the winner, picked on Oct. 12 at 3 pm, receives half of all money collected. Proceeds go towards supporting the Mill Neck Family of Organizations. •Blood Pressure Screening conducted by volunteer nurses from the Kappa Eta Chapter of the Chi Eta Phi sorority on the first Wednesday of every month from noon to 1 p.m. and 5 to 6:30 p.m. No appointments necessary. The testing will be held on the main floor.

•The Adult Learning Center offers computer, audio and video programs to assist with preparation for GED classes. The programs are available for use (by appointment). Information about local GED test sites and GED applications are available at the center and the Adult Reference Desk.
