SYAC Travel Softball teams racked up six wins this past weekend against three losses, in their second full week of league competition this fall. In addition, a number of skills clinics were held to improve softball skill levels and increase teamwork for players on five teams in the travel program.
The Syosset Cyclones fell 8-2 to a tough North Bellmore/North Merrick team as they competed in the NBNM U8 League that plays on Jerusalem Avenue. The Syosset Hurricanes, competing in the U10 division of the NJBL League, split a pair of games in an away date against the Islip Red Devils. There was plenty of hitting as they dropped the first game 14-11 but pounded their way to a 17-15 win in the second game.
The Syosset Storm, also competing in the U10 division of NJBL, had two commanding wins over the Long Island Bandits at Longo Field at H.B. Thompson Middle School. The Storm prevailed 15-7 and 11-1. The Storm has jumped out to a 4-0 record this fall.
The Syosset Thunder, competing in the U12 division of NJBL, split a pair of games with the Nesconset Panthers in an away date. They lost the first game 5-4 but surged ahead in the second game and won 12-2.
The Syosset Xtreme took a pair from the visiting Peconic Lions at Hap Harris Field at Syosset High School. They won the first game 10-0 and the second 12-4. They compete at U14 in NJBL.
