The brand new Syosset Cyclones swept in a brand new fall season for SYAC Travel Softball on Sept. 6. The Cyclones battled to a thrilling 4-4 tie with New Hyde Park in their first game in the U8 division of the NBNM Softball League.

The Cyclones took their more experienced opponents by surprise with a barrage of hitting, as they took a 3-0 and then a 4-1 lead. New Hyde Park tied things up in the top of the sixth, the final inning. In the bottom of the frame, the Cyclones loaded up the bases and threatened to push across the winning run before New Hyde Park made a series of sparkling putouts to secure a tie.

The game's MVP medal was awarded to Emily Casale. There were plenty of great plays and hits, including some powerful smashes by Danielle Jacoby and Emily Quinn.

The Cyclones are the newest of five SYAC travel softball teams. Playing in U10 of the NJBL Softball League are the Syosset Hurricanes and the Syosset Storm. The Syosset Thunder plays at U12, and the Syosset Xtreme at U14, both also in the NJBL. Aside from the Cyclones, the other teams had a bye or were rained out last weekend.
