Some members of the U6 Galaxy competed in the Kick It 3 v 3 tournament Saturday, Aug. 9 and Sunday, Aug. 10 in York, PA. They had finished in first place in the first round of the tournament hosted by the Jericho Soccer Club in June. The boys demonstrated excellent skills, sportsmanship and teamwork, while having an amazing weekend together.
After they finished near the top of their division on Saturday, they were pumped for the playoffs on Sunday. In the exciting semifinal round, the score was tied at both the end of regulation time as well as overtime, leading to a shoot-out. Though they did not win, they were able to keep focus and persevere to win the next game, securing a third-place finish in the tournament.
Outstanding playing as well as continuous efforts were demonstrated throughout the entire tournament by Steve Gerschwer, scoring goals game after game. Ari Kantorowitz was unstoppable on defense. Time after time he spoiled the opponents' attempt to score. Excellent running and determination was shown by Jordan Miller play after play. Adam Garten's speed and terrific passes helped secure several goals for the Galaxy. Brandon Weiss excelled in both offense and defense throughout the entire tournament. Matthew Rothstein had an amazing header to score a goal in the thrilling semi-final game. All-in-all, the boys had a terrific time together and made everyone very proud.
