The Syosset Youth Football & Cheerleading League recently announced the donation of a scoreboard at the turf field in Syosset-Woodbury Park.
"The league has been growing and we have been working toward developing our home field. Two years ago the turf field was put in at the park and ever since we have been discussing the need for a scoreboard," said Tommy Nocella, Football Commissioner for the league. "This is our first major investment in the field and it could not have been done without the generosity of each and every family in this league."
Once the town approves the plans and readies the field, the support system will be installed. The league would like to extend special thanks to Howie Feinstein and Feinstein Ironworks for the coordination of this project and the donation and installation of the support posts.
The scoreboard will be operated via remote control, so that the scorekeepers can be right on the field. Anyone who is interested in becoming a volunteer scoreboard operator should contact the league at football@syossetfcl.com or 364-4099.
"This league is all about the kids," said Nocella. "It's about giving them a safe place to play, with the best equipment possible, so that they can do what they love to do - make great friends and make great memories; memories that will last a lifetime."
Opening day is set for September 3.
