The summer season is rapidly approaching for four SYAC Travel Softball teams who have been in full training mode for the last several weeks.

This summer, SYAC Girls Travel Softball is fielding four teams in the Glen Cove Mayor's Trophy, with games beginning right after the July Fourth weekend.

SYAC is fielding two teams in the U10 Division: the Hurricanes, coached by Larry Hirschheimer, Anthony Beovich and Rob Marlow; and the Storm, coached by Bruce Graber, Steve Kuse and Chris McLaughlin. Competing at U12 is the Thunder, coached by Beovich, Mario Fasano and Ted Zurek. The Xtreme, coached by Peter Janowsky, competes at U14.

Rosters for the Fall/Spring travel teams will be announced later this month.

The SYAC Board thanks the more than 100 volunteer coaches and sponsors, as well as players and families, who all contributed to such a successful SYAC spring season, which ended in late June. SYAC had 36 softball teams competing this spring in four age divisions, ranging from kindergarten through eighth grade. Registration for the 2009 SYAC season will be in January.
