The Jayhawks, a Roslyn fourth grade travel basketball team playing in the SuperLeague at Island Garden, have now increased their win streak to five games. Their record now stands at 6-2, which puts them among the very top of the elite 23 team division.

Coached by David Rothman, Stu Dinetz and Jeff Gould, the team has been together for two seasons and they play an aggressive, gambling defense that looks to fastbreak at every opportunity.

On Dec. 22 at the JCC, the team in workman-like fashion bested the Plainview PAL 28-12. Led by Alex Klausner and Ben Rashbaum's 6 points, the Jayhawks pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back. Highlighting the action were Brandon Friedman's 3 steals (and 2 points) and the strong rebounding of Reid Karp (8 boards, 2 points), Brian Rogofsky (6 boards, 4 points) and Danny Gould (6 boards, 2 points).

On Jan. 8 at Island Garden, the Jayhawks cruised to a 42-14 win over Garden City - Granville. The game was never in doubt and as the Jayhawks' stifling man-2-man defense shut down GC. Offensively, the Jayhawks patiently moved the ball around looking for easy scores as they worked through their offensive repertoire. Paced by Ben Rashbaum's 8 points, Danny Gould and Ben Mitchell with 6 points each and Kenny Rothman (5) running the offense the team was unstoppable. Alex Klausner (5), Jacob Dinetz (4), Brian Rogofsky (4), Reid Karp (4) and Brandon Friedman all contributed to the victory. The Jayhawks recorded an amazing 19 steals in this game which is their high for the year.

The Jayhawks next play Sunday, Jan. 22 at 5:10 p.m. at Island Garden against Jericho - Wagner and again on Saturday, Jan. 28 at Island Garden at 5:10 p.m. against Syosset - Breslow. The Jan. 22 contest is part of a back-to-PGM-to-back affair with their varsity brothers, the LIL - Jammers, who play RVC at 7:30 p.m. in a 6th Grade Division game.
