Friends Academy is very proud of all its student/athletes. In addition to the field hockey team making it to the final four in the New York State Championships in the fall, both the girls and boys varsity soccer teams received their respective Conference Sportsmanship Awards. In addition, the girls soccer team captured the Long Island Championship and the girls cross-country team captured the Nassau County "C" Championship.
In addition to receiving the Sportsmanship Award through a total team effort, the girls soccer team captured the Long Island title by defeating Suffolk County McCann-Mercy by a score of 1 to 0, scoring with less than five minutes left in regulation play. The team lost in the southeast Regional Championships by a score of 1 to 0. Receiving Nassau County recognition were Brooke Silverstein, All-Class C; Tiffany Cahill and Casey Gahan, All-Conference; and Hae Chang, Scholar/Athlete.
Cross Country honors for the girls went to K.K. Durante, Class-C County Champion and All-Conference; Karina Kononenko, All-Conference; and Liz Alber, All-Division. Brandon Dottin received All-Conference honors and Jared Rosmarin, All-Division.
Receiving All-Conference honors on the boys soccer team were Brian Witthuhn and Taylor Morabito.
Also receiving Nassau County honors were Mike Cox, football, All-County and on the tennis team, Loren Lostritto and Illana Cohen, received All-State and All-County honors; Julia Browne, All-Conference; and Lauren Sugarman, Section VIII Sportsmanship Award.
