On Sept. 15, we will be hold a meeting at Herricks High School for anyone who would be interested in talking about the creation of a Herricks Alumni Association - whether there is interest in creating such an organization, what it might look like, what kinds of services and functions it might provide, and what the school district might be able to do to support it.

Anyone who is interested is welcome to attend. Those who are interested but unable to attend should feel free to contact Dr. Jane Modoono, Principal of Herricks High School, or myself before the meeting with any ideas they might have.

The new Herricks Public Schools website has a section for alumni (go towww.herricks.org, click on "community" and then click on "alumni message board"). This feature was something a number of alumni had requested over the past several years. Accordingly, when the new site was being designed we asked that this feature be included. It is a small start but it is indicative of what can be done with current technology. A function which would have taken an enormous amount of staff time can now be done instantly on the internet with little or no staff time other than what is needed to maintain the overall website.

Please spread the word about the organizational meeting on Sept. 15. We would like to see broad representation from many different classes. In the meantime please be thinking of what you would like to see the organization do.
