Roslyn residents face two very important elections this year. There is, of course, the upcoming presidential election in November. As important to Roslyn residents is the board of education election next Tuesday. As to that election, we strongly recommend a vote for Dani Kline. Dani is a candidate for one of the two available positions and possesses the talent, the energy and the commitment that the job demands.

Dani's educational and professional background make her uniquely qualified. She graduated college majoring in child psychology and education. Unlike most other candidates, Dani knows what is involved in educating the children in our community. Education, remember that? In the professional world, Dani was responsible for the development of educational materials that help children develop morals and healthy values. Remember morals and values? As her career evolved, Dani rose in the ranks of the business world into positions of high responsibility. She negotiated contracts. She managed divisions of a large corporation with direct oversight of revenue and budgets exceeding the $80 million school budget, i.e., fiscal responsibility. Remember responsibility? She hired and fired staff that worked below her and answered for their actions, or inactions.

We know Dani personally and are proud to call her a friend. She is well-suited to be a member of the board of education. Not only does she exhibit a remarkable intellect and grasp of the issues, she is calm, controlled and capable. Since she left the corporate world, she has devoted herself and her energies to her family and this community. Dani has been involved in Harbor Hill committees and activities as well as the broader-based CCPA and adult-oriented educational programs.

Her two children are active in various extracurricular activities to which Dani has also contributed. Dani recognizes that public education is about more than academics, but also extends to, among other things, arts and athletics. She firmly believes that education must address individuality. Dani will help refocus the school district's attention on each child's strengths and weaknesses, including all children, whatever their educational abilities and needs.

Dani's candidacy is about one person's commitment to this community as it seeks to reclaim the pride and sense of community it had prior to the scandal. No doubt that each candidate is capable of attending to the legal matters that concern us all. But being a school board trustee requires more than that. It demands a tremendous amount of time, energy and patience, and the ability to relate to the community, teaching professionals and other constituencies. Dani has already published her face and her e-mail address on her fliers, making herself available to one and all. Knowing her as we do, we are confident that she will continue to maintain open lines of communication to ensure that every member of our school district will be well informed and given the opportunity to be heard about school district acts, actions and policies.

Everyone should vote. Everyone should know as much about the candidates as possible. We recommend voting for the most qualified person. We believe that person to be Dani Kline.
