The residents of Fairfield Park, the community across from Roslyn High School, have a hero in Jonathan Cheris, the head of the community organization. Thanks to Cheris, Fairfield Park has had its two mail boxes restored by the post office. On the pretext of a mysterious survey, the postal troops removed our boxes late last year. Ever since Cheris has rallied the neighborhood, negotiated, petitioned and wheedled to get the mail boxes back. Finally, with the help of people from Congressman Gary Ackerman's staff and East Hills Mayor Michael Koblenz, Cheris persuaded the postal authorities to relent and the mail boxes were put back where they belong. Three cheers to Jonathan.
