Hats off to Annie McNelis whose letter in The Roslyn News was published on Nov. 27.

At a deplorable moment in the American experience, she hits the nail on the head. Her detailed report on Roslyn High School seniors "scavenger hunt" (subtitled "Midnight Madness") places the responsibility for this Roman circus, not on the school, but on those of Roslyn's reckless, selfish and stupid parents who spend too much time at the malls and tennis courts and not enough time monitoring their teenagers' activities.

In a very real sense it is not the fault of our teenage youngsters that their hormones begin exploding and their taste of "adult power" begins to act as a narcotic. It is the first duty of every parent to manage their children's adventures until the children themselves are responsible adults.

Becoming a parent is easy. Being a caring - and strong - parent is simply the most difficult task we adults can attempt in life. Nothing is more loving or more worthwhile.
