The second annual East Hills Mayor's Trophy softball tournament, which is widely anticipated, will be held on Oct. 5 at 8:30 a.m. at Harbor Hill Elementary School. The championship game between the two teams which are finalists will be held the following week, on Sunday, Oct. 12, at noon.
Registration is currently being conducted. To register, call the East Hills Village Hall at 621-4251. While East Hills residents are encouraged to play, non-residents are also welcomed to participate. All teams will be formed on or before Sept. 21 so all interested players are encouraged to call immediately. A nominal fee to cover the costs is charged. All participants receive team jerseys, breakfast at the fields, championship presents to the winners and photos which will be used for publicity purposes. All winners will be permanently recognized on a poster displayed at Village Hall.
Mayor Koblenz said he was looking forward to the event. Úquot;The Mayor's Trophy Tournament is one of the finest and most prized events in our village. The level of play and talent which was shown last year was truly impressive. I am sure that this year's competition will be equally as strong. I hope that all our residents stop by to cheer on their favorite team. My congratulations and thanks to all the organizers, and I wish all the participants the very best luck.Úquot;
