Things are happening with the Roslyn High School varsity basketball squad. On Tuesday, Jan. 8, the Bulldogs continued their winning ways by defeating Sewanhaka, 71-41. Leading scorers for Roslyn were Raymond Johnson (23 points), Andrew Oliver (18 points), and Ronny Koening (14 points). The Bulldogs took a 21-10 first quarter lead and increased their margin in both the second and third quarters.
A week later, the Bulldogs remained undefeated by toppling Mineola, 70-42. Again, Johnson and Oliver were the star performers. Johnson scored 24 points, while Oliver scored 13 points, including nine in the third quarter when Roslyn put the game away. Oliver also pulled down 13 rebounds. The win improved the Bulldogs mark to 8-0, including a 4-0 record in Conference B-I play.
On Thursday, Jan. 17, Roslyn suffered their first loss of the season, falling to Seaford, 81-71. Eric Bratt led the Bulldogs with a season-high 26 points. Andrew Oliver added 23 points. The Bulldogs next game is Friday, Jan. 25 at Malverne. Other upcoming games include another away game Tuesday, Jan. 29 at Wantagh and a home game on Friday, Feb. 1 against New Hyde Park.
