Members of the Roslyn Heights Civic Association continued their debate over the construction of a sound barrier wall in their area. The wall would be part of the ongoing Long Island Expressway expansion project.

Time Capsule for East Hills Park
The New York State National Guard and the Village of East Hills Board of Trustees are planning to bury a time capsule on Saturday, Dec. 9 when the village celebrates its acquisition of the Roslyn Air National Guard Base and the beginnings of a park for East Hills residents. The time capsule will be unearthed in fifty years. "I hope it's opened by the very same people who bury it!" said East Hills Mayor Michael R. Koblenz.

North Shore Athlete Recognized
North Shore High School senior Claire Calzonetti recently was selected one of eight Nassau County athletes to attend the Women in Sports Foundation dinner at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in New York City. On the basis of academics, athletics and community service, she was named to represent the county. Claire is a member of the National Honor Society, and has logged many hours of community service. She has played varsity field hockey, basketball and lacrosse each year, and was named All-Division, All-Conference and MVP for basketball, and All-Conference and All-County for lacrosse.
