(The following letter was sent to Lester Arstark. It is being reprinted here at the author's request.)

At the last Roslyn Landmark meeting held at The George Washington Manor on Wednesday, Sept. 23, it was much to my surprise and concern to see that Donald Kavanagh was introducing the owners of the proposed supermarket property to the gathered members of our community. To what end was this presentation taking place? What possible purpose does this commercial entity have at a meeting of The Roslyn Landmark Society? The owner of the property spoke like the supermarket was approved. I believe that the supermarket was defeated at all levels in the court.

I do not wish to see this membership become politicized or an unwitting vehicle for the benefit of commercial development.

I have always counted on The Roslyn Landmark Society to provide wonderful educational and informational historical meetings.
