Clifford F. Curran, 92, a retired telecommunications engineer died on July 28, 1998 at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, MA. He was the husband of Frances (Hickey) Curran who died in 1991.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, Mr. Curran lived in Roslyn Estates for many years before retiring to Old Saybrook, CT. After the death of his wife he moved to Yarmouthport, MA.
Mr. Curran earned an AB degree from Columbia University in 1927 and later earned a BS degree from Columbia as well. In 1930 he earned an advanced degree from the Columbia School of Engineering. While at Columbia he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, Tau Beta Pi and Sigma Xi. He was employed by NY Telephone Co. in NYC for 40 years as a telecommunications engineer. He was involved in many long range projects. His last major project before he retired was the planning of the world wide web communication network for the World Trade Center. A lifelong gardener, Mr. Curran also enjoyed world travel, playing bridge and boating.
He is survived by one son, Edward F. Curran of San Anselmo, CA; two daughters, Margery C. Kimmel of Marietta, GA and Carol C. Lyall of Cotuit, MA; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements were made by the John-Lawrence Funeral Home, Marston Mills, MA. Memorial service at St. Peter's Episcopal Church, Osterville, MA. Burial on Aug. 15 at the Fairview Cemetery in Williamstown, NY. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, the Alzheimer's Association or the charity of one's choice.
Frank G. Arnold, of Roslyn Heights, died on Aug. 5, 1998. Husband of Catherine. Father of Frank Jr., John and Glen. Father-in-law of Natalie. Arrangements were made by the Roslyn Heights Funeral Home. Funeral Mass at St. Mary's RC Church. Interment Holy Rood Cemetery.
