Active Seniors of Manhasset meets every Tuesday from 11:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. in rented quarters at the Unitarian Church on Shelter Rock Rd. Phyllis Becker is its director and leads the group in its activities including luncheons at local restaurants. Because many of the group no longer drive, bus transportation is available. The Board of Commissioners of the Manhasset-Lakeville Water and Fire Districts summer schedule of public official meetings is as follows: The board will meet on Wednesdays from 6 to 8 p.m. through Sept. 3 to discuss the weekly business of the district. The meeting will be open to the public from 6 to 7 p.m. unless otherwise publicly notified. After 7 p.m., the meeting will be for administrative purposes. All meetings will be conducted in the Boardroom at the district office, 170 East Shore Rd., Great Neck, unless otherwise publicly notified. Tickets are priced at $55 per person which includes a raw bar, salad course and dessert. A Live steel drum band will be performing. Held on Sept. 21 in the Marian Room (lower level of the church) from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Plandome Manor will be sponsoring a training and certification course for National Safety Council Adult and Pediatric CPR and AED (Automated External Defibrillator) for a $50 fee on a first-come/first-serve basis for all residents of the Plandomes. The course will be held Oct. 8 from 6 to 10 p.m. at 65 South Dr. Upon course completion participants will be certified by the National Safety Council and certificates will be issued. Get together at Strathmore Vanderbilt Country Club from 8 to11 p.m. on Sept. 5 to raise money for the new Varsity Baseball Field at Manhasset High School. The Diane Whipple Foundation announces its 3rd annual Lacrosse Tournament to be held at Harbor Links on Oct. 18. The tournament is the primary fundraiser for the foundation which was established by friends, teammates and family members of Diane Whipple, an outstanding lacrosse player and coach whose career was abruptly ended in 2001 by a tragic accident. The tournament is open to elementary, middle and high school players.
