Program: WWII's only prisoner of war exchange will be discussed by speaker Bernard Rader, who will also show a professionally-produced video. As a young army rifleman, Mr. Rader was involved in an ambush and capture and eventual POW exchange in Brittany in France in November of 1944. The event came about through the efforts of a Red Cross field director. Seniors are invited to attend. People who feel very sad about the loss or serious illness of their cat or dog can now come to a bi-weekly support group led by an experienced counselor in the conference room at Bide-A-Wee, 3300 Beltagh Ave., Wantagh. These sessions are open to the public; they are not restricted to Bide-A-Wee clients or adopters. The group facilitator is Medea Berkman, a pet loss group leader with many years of experience. She gently guides the healing process to help people come to terms with their feelings of sadness and loss. No fee, but all donations are gratefully accepted to help Bide-A-Wee provide for the animals in our care until we place them in loving homes.
