As of Jan. 1, the Levittown Kiwanis Club will be changing its meeting schedule from every Thursday to the second and fourth Thursdays of every month. This is a step that many other Kiwanis Clubs in the area have already taken and found to be successful.

The Levittown Kiwanis Club is a very active part of our local community. Levittown Kiwanis hosts food drives, sends underprivileged children to camp, gives scholarships, sponsors community events and more. If you are interested in learning more about this philanthropic organization and the good works the club does, come to a meeting. Guests are welcome to attend. Levittown Kiwanis meets the second and fourth Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at La Focaccia Restaurant, 70 East Village Green, Levittown, NY 11756. Telephone: 796-4461.

For more information, contact President Susie Trenkle at 804-8906

Please save all your soda/drink flip top tabs and all your General Mills box tops and Campbell Soup labels and turn them in to the Levittown Kiwanis Club at one of our meetings. The box tops and soup labels go to St. Jude's Ranch for Children. When St. Jude's reaches 300,000 box tops and soup labels they are able to redeem them for a Chrysler Caravan. The soda tabs are now being donated to Mercy Hospital.

Anyone who would like to make a donation can call Club President Susie Trenkle at 804-8906.

Terrific Kids is a program that provides schools with a tool to reward students for special achievements that may otherwise go unnoticed. Last year alone, the Levittown Kiwanis Club recognized 1,200 Terrific Kids. The club has begun scheduling the Terrific Kids programs in each of the elementary and middle schools in the Levittown and Island Trees districts for the current school year.

The following are the Terrific Kids programs that have been scheduled for the 2007-08 school year: Thursday, Jan. 17 at 2:15 p.m. at East Broadway School, Friday, Jan. 25 at 9:15 a.m. at Salk Middle School, Tuesday, Feb. 5 at 2:15 p.m. at Northside School, Monday, Feb. 11 at 9:45 a.m. at Summit Lane School, Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Sparke School, Wednesday, Feb. 13 at 9:15 a.m. at Gardiners Avenue School, Thursday, Feb. 28 at 2:15 p.m. at East Broadway School.

Look for the Kiwanis Korner in the Levittown Tribune every week.
