Many of the best women runners from all over the New York Metropolitan area joined with lots of runners from Long Island for the 25th Annual Arrow Exterminating Company Long Island Women's 5 Kilometer Run, held on the roads of Farmingdale July 19 and veteran Hicksville runner Liz Flahavan distinguished herself by coming home with an award. Flahavan, a 44-year-old speedster, crossed the finish line at Farmingdale High School in 20 minutes, 28 seconds, scoring in 11th place overall in a field of nearly 400 runners and walkers.
