The Mastermind Unit, a nonprofit organization, is partnering with local Long Island Charities to raise funds for several causes and will host a charity event/inaugural soccer tournament on Saturday, Aug. 9. All proceeds will benefit the John Theissen Children's Foundation.
The event will feature a men's 7v7 soccer tournament with plenty of entertainment for friends, family and children. Free soccer training sessions will be offered by world class soccer trainers who have donated their time from 10-11 a.m., 1 to 2 p.m. and 4 to 5 p.m.. Children of all ages welcome!
The tournament will take place at Kevin T. Kolm Memorial Field in Hicksville, which is located at the intersection of Old Country and South Oyster Bay roads. Registration will begin at 8 a.m. with the tournament kicking off at 9 a.m. sharp.
The Mastermind Unit has strategically partnered with Hicksville Soccer Club and several other local businesses to help put this event on and make it a success. Beverages will be provided for the players as will T-shirts. Prizes will be auctioned off and there will be a 50/50 raffle. Food will be on site and plenty of other amenities to make it a fun-filled day.
The John Theissen Children's Foundation helps assist sick and underprivileged children on Long Island, supports families with financial assistance to defray medical expenses, provides hospitals and child care facilities with therapeutic and recreational equipment and fulfill patients' (birth to age 18) wish lists throughout the year.
