Residents Divided Over Firehouse Renovation, Expansion Project
Some 150 residents gathered at the Hicksville Public Library last Thursday for a meeting regarding the renovation and expansion of the fire district's Station 2, which is located on Briggs Street between Woodbury Road and Ronald Avenue. While some who attended were clearly opposed to the project, which calls for the demolition and construction of a new firehouse, others wholly support the fire district and say they understand the need for additional space.

Michael Recchia, One of 'America's Most Talented Kids'
Seven-year-old Michael Recchia of Hicksville loves to sing. However, he doesn't sing the typical songs a second-grader would normally sing. He prefers the old standards, especially the classics of Frank Sinatra. Michael's first appearance on stage was in the Woodland Elementary School Talent Show when he was just five years old and in kindergarten. He loved being on the stage and the audience seemed to love watching the little boy in a tuxedo, who then became known as "Little Blue Eyes."

News From the Hicksville Crusaders
Hicksville's youngest Crusaders opened up their season with a win over Franklin Square. This game was a seasaw battle started by our Stephen Ketelsen who ran for a 45-yard touchdown on Hicksville's first possession. Franklin Square drove down the field and tied the score. In the second quarter Connor McPartland broke a long run but was caught at the 7-yard line. On the next play McPartland got the ball again and outran the defense to the goal line. Franklin Square scored at the beginning of the second half to tie the game again. Hicksville's third touchdown was scored on a 60-yard run by Michael Mcnamara. The game clock ran out on Franklin Square, giving the Crusader's their first win.
