Hicksville Remembers, Pays Tribute to William Bennett
William Bennett, an instrumental and dedicated member of the Hicksville community, passed away late Friday, Sept. 12 of complications from cancer. He was 71.

Hicksville Remembers September 11, 2001
Last Thursday, the Hicksville Fire Department held a memorial ceremony for those lost during the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks. As firefighters remembered those who perished, a wreath was placed at the memorial monument which is located at Station #3 and dedicated to Hicksville's fallen heroes George Howard and Terry Farrell. During the ceremony, Rev. Theodore Grant, the fire department's chaplain, prayed and asked for comfort and peace for the families of all September 11, 2001 victims. Pictured in the background is the Hicksville Fire Department's Engine #937, which carries the phrase "Gone, But Not Forgotten."

Comets Gear Up for Homecoming Weekend
After finishing 6-1-1 and reaching the playoffs in 2001, the Hicksville Comets entered last year's campaign with high expectations only to see them vanish after six starters fell to injuries. Although the team finished a respectable 4-4, the season was a sobering reminder of just how important it is to have quality depth in the world of high school football.

Nassau County PAL to Hold Registration
The Nassau County Police Activity League (PAL) will hold registration on Monday, Sept. 22, Wednesday, Sept. 24 and Thursday, Sept. 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. and on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon at the PAL Office Trailer in the west parking field of KeySpan Energy. Registration for the following sports will take place at this time:
