Legislator Edward P. Mangano announced he is seeking re-election to the 17th Legislative District (L.D.) which, pursuant to redistricting includes Hicksville, Bethpage, Plainedge, South Farmingdale and North Levittown. Ex-Captain William Sarnelli Jr., chairman for the Hicksville Fire Department's (HFD) 75th Annual Labor Day Parade and Drill is asking for the residents' support for this year's events. Keeping with tradition, the Hicksville Fire Department will pay tribute to Honorary Grand Marshal, ex-Captain Bill Sarnelli Sr. (William Sarnelli's father), who has also been a member of Volunteer Hose Company 4 for the last 35 years. The Cantiague Park Senior Men's Golf League did not have as good of a turnout for their August 21 tournament as they had been having, but still had a good number of 27 golfers on hand. Scoring was about average with a couple of good rounds. One really good round was by John Geier who had a net 25. There were only two birdies and they were both in the first group of the tournament. Wes Villazon got one on the par 3, 172 yard, 2nd hole and Lew Rezoagli got the other on the par 3, 150 yard 2nd hole. In the match play Al Lippman and Jim Anderson won their matches today and move on to the final round in four weeks. FULL STORY

The Hicksville Baseball Association will hold nominations for board position at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 4 at the Hicksville Public Library.
