On Friday, Oct. 28, at around 7:30 a.m., Manhasset-Lakeville Company #3 responded to a van fire in front of the Manhasset-Lakeville Fire/Water District Offices at 170 East Shore Road. The van was carrying landscaping equipment including lawn mowers and gasoline. The occupants of the van removed most of the equipment before the van completely burst into flames. Deputy Chief Kyle Dugger directed the crew of Engine 8735, who extinguished the fully involved landscaping van fire. FULL STORY

The Great Neck Soccer Club will be holding tryouts for next years' travel teams on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 3 and 4. The tryouts will be held on both days at the Great Neck North Middle School soccer field on Arrandale Avenue. They will begin at 9:30 a.m. sharp, with registration/check-in opening at 9 a.m. at the field. It is mandatory that interested players attend the tryouts on both days. FULL STORY
