Over 150 classic, antique, collectible, domestic and foreign cars are anticipated to be on display at the Village of Great Neck Plaza's Annual Street Festival and Antique AutoFest on Sunday, Sept. 25, from noon to 5 p.m. with a rain date of Oct. 9. The presenting sponsor again this year is United Capital Corporation.

Cars galore will be featured at the Plaza Street Festival and Antique AutoFest on Sept. 25.

"We're proud to offer another exciting day of enjoyable activities for people now coming to this event from the tri-state area," said Jay Corn, AutoFest chairman. "Our 21st edition is expected to be another great experience."

The antique autos will range from early Model As and Ts to vintage Buicks and Cadillacs to classic Jaguars and Bentleys. Brass Dash Plaques and a 24-ounce commemorative mug will be given out to the first 150 cars registered. Wonderful prizes will also be awarded to the winners of the ever-popular pie-eating contest.

The event showcases some of the best that Great Neck Plaza has to offer. Mayor Jean Celender states, "The Village of Great Neck Plaza is honored to host this event in association with the BID (business improvement district). It's been our tradition to host this event as our way of saying thanks to the community for supporting our downtown and the extraordinary shopping and community life that we have here." The village would also like to thank its sponsor, United Capital, for its continued support of this wonderful community and family event.

Additional attractions will include an Antique Fair (brought back this year by its popular demand) on Bond Street, carnival rides and games, hayrides, pumpkin carving and painting, pony rides and a petting zoo.

The festival will take place on Middle Neck Road from the entrance of the Gardens at Great Neck to Cedar Drive, and on portions of Bond Street, Grace Avenue, North Station Plaza, Great Neck Road and Cutter Mill Road. As always, there is no charge to attend the festival.

For more information on auto car registration, please call the BID offices at 829-1301. The BID requests that all antique and classic cars pre-register as there may not be available space to register on the festival day.
