The Garden City Recreation Department is pleased to announce its schedule for the Summer Gazebo Concert Series. All concerts start at 7:15 p.m. and are held at the gazebo at the corner of Stewart and Hilton avenues. In the event of rain, the concert would still be held but moved inside to St. Paul's Cluett Hall. Please bring a lawn chair or set up a blanket. The schedule is as follows:

The recreation department will be holding a series of clinics geared toward teaching children ages 10-18 the exciting game of team handball. Experienced instructors will run these clinics, which are being held in the St. Paul's Field House Wednesday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m. All fundamentals and strategies of the game will be learned. This free program is open to ages 10-18 who are living in Garden City. Registration will take place the first evening of the program. Come and learn more about the Olympic sport. The recreation department's preschool camp is a fun way for children ages 3-and-a-half to 5-year-olds who live in Garden City to spend the summer. Children who attend this camp must be 3-and-a-half years by the start of their session and proof of age is required. Arts and crafts, music, nature and stories will fill the 1-and-a-half-hour class. This class will be held in St. Paul's Cluett Hall from 10:30 a.m. to noon and will be taught by Patricia Haas Leonenko, preschool teacher at St. Joseph's School. The cost of a one-week session is $75.

Come join us and learn what it takes to pass, dribble and shoot in this camp. This camp will be held at St. Paul's Field House the week of June 30 according to the following schedule:
Entering grades 2-3 from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Entering grades 4-6 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The children will also learn the rules of the game through scrimmaging. The camp will be held at Stewart Field from 9:30 a.m. to noon the week of July 7 and the week of July 14 (Monday through Thursday). The cost of this four-day camp is $85.

There are limited openings in the youth baseball camp for 9-12 year olds at Community Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the weeks of July 21 and July 28. Each week of the camp is four days and the cost to attend is $75. Visit the recreation office at 108 Rockaway Avenue for further details or to register. The recreation department's tennis camp program offers children who live in Garden City an opportunity to learn or advance their tennis skills while working with experienced tennis pros in a fun setting. The camps are set by age and children will be grouped according to ability within their camp. The age of the child at the start of the session will determine which session the child may attend and proof of age may be required. All camps will be held at the Community Park tennis facility.
Each child may sign up for a maximum of two sessions. Equipment is needed - flat-soled sneakers and a tennis racket. All tennis camps will follow the same session dates:

Pee Wee Tennis - for ages 4-5. Skills are learned by fun and easy-to-do drills taught by tennis professionals. 9 to 10 a.m. for $45.
Novice Camp - for ages 6-7. This camp will teach serving, rallying and the basics of a tennis game, keeping it fun for the younger tennis set. 2:30 to 4 p.m. for $75.
Junior Camp - for ages 8-11. For all levels of experience, this two and one-quarter hour camp will group players by ability so that everyone can move to the next level. 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. for $90.
Junior Camp Plus - for children ages 8-11 who are looking for a full day of tennis. This camp will teach tennis instruction in the morning, followed by lunchtime and a special activity, then end the day with tennis matches. Children must bring their lunch for this camp. 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. for $200.
Senior Camp - for students ages 12-18 who are either looking to learn to play tennis or would like to get better at the game. 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. for $90.
