The seventh grade Garden City Grey Lady Rams (6-0) lacrosse squad continued their winning ways with a 16-12 victory over arch-rival Manhasset. This completed a two-game sweep over the Manhasset teams, as the Grey Lady Rams defeated Manhasset's other seventh grade team 15-5.
The Grey Lady Rams unleashed a powerful offensive game and were led by hat tricks from Jackie Jahelka (five goals) and Haley Shannon (three goals). Additional goal scorers were Emily Finnerty (two), Bitty Furman (two), Lily Schmidt (two) and solo tallies were added by Krista Dampman and Nickie Berkery.
The offensive zone was dominated throughout the contest and was aided by strong groundball play and scoring assists from attackers Mary Glenn, Megan Higgins, Taylor Pappas and Erin Higgins.
Goaltender Jackie Ferri stopped nine Manhasset shots as she netted her fifth win in goal this season. She was aided by the strong midfield play of Marie Cristoforo, Addie Zebrowski, Stephanie DiPierro, and the strong offensive zone checking of Brianna Noak and Caitlyn Mallan. The hustle of the middies and attackers helped hold off a late Manhasset surge, which drew Manhasset within four goals late in the contest. Stalwart defender Lauren Coleman played through injury and combined with Hayley Newlin-Wagner to thwart numerous Manhasset scoring opportunities.
